SEACOOP has organised a series of events in the Philippines, with the support of the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), the SEACOOP partner for Philippines, from June 21 to 24, 2010.

On June 21 and 22 in Cebu, the 3rd SEACOOP consortium meeting has been held, allowing to satisfactorily review all other SEACOOP activities developed so far and planned in the next months, including the key one focusing on the identification of cooperation priorities between the two regions.

On June 24 in Manila, two events have taken place: a meeting of the SEACOOP Advisory Committee (in which Committee members based in Southeast Asia had been invited to participate), and a FP7 awareness workshop to inform and interact with organisations from Manila and its surroundings, specialising in ICT research.

On June 23, a cooperation forum focusing on the theme of “Networked Electronic Media” (NEM) has been organised in Manila too by the SEACOOP partnership, in liaison with the NEM European Technology Platform (ETP) and under the aegis of the European Commission and of the ASEAN Secretariat.

At the end of the event, Pierre-Yves Danet, Vice-Chair of the NEM ETP in charge of its strategy, expressed his confidence that the discussions had truly allowed to underline promising perspectives which will have to be exploited in the next weeks and months and will be further discussed on the occasion of the European Commission’s ICT 2010 event to be held in Brussels from September 27 to 29.
