SEACOOP has developed a series of activities in Brussels, Belgium, from September 27 to October 1, 2010, on the occasion of the ICT 2010 event organised by the European Commission during the same week in Brussels.

From September 27 to 29, SEACOOP had the opportunity to be significantly involved in the ICT 2010 conference and exhibition, the major event taking place every two years under the aegis of the European Commission’s DG Information Society and Media (DG Infso) and attracting thousands of delegates from Europe and all over the world. During these three days SEACOOP operated an exhibition booth and co-organized a networking session, both devoted to cooperation between Europe and Southeast Asia in ICT research, and also was given the opportunity to directly interact with several DG Infso Units. All these activities revealed to be very successful, not only to promote S&T cooperation on ICT between the two regions but also to discuss with key stakeholders concrete cooperation opportunities in the short term.

The two following days have been held at the Hotel Plaza in Brussels.

SEACOOP hosted there, on September 30, a cooperation forum on the extension, the interconnection and the use of “eInfrastructures”, co-organized with the TEIN3 project and under the aegis of the European Commission and of the ASEAN Secretariat. Over 60 delegates from Europe and Southeast Asia have participated in this forum, which included formal presentations, lively panel discussions and open networking moments. By the end of the day, before a concluding cocktail, the two event co-chairs shared with delegates their satisfaction concerning the level of information exchange, and the opportunities identified during the meeting to extend the reach of eInfrastructures in Southeast Asia and support their use.

On October 1, 2010, for the last day of an intense and fruitful week, SEACOOP partners held their fourth consortium meeting at the Hotel Plaza, and in presence of the Head of the S&T division of the ASEAN Secretariat. The meeting took place in a very friendly and productive atmosphere, which allowed taking stock of all activities developed during the week, and carefully planning the activities to be performed in the next months.
